What is biomagnetism?
The term biomagnetism has more than one meaning. In biophysics and biomedical research, biomagnetism generally refers to magnetic fields generated by biological systems and their measurement. In complementary-health contexts, “biomagnetism” is also used for biomagnetic pair therapy, a method associated with Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán involving pairs of static magnets placed at mapped body points. These concepts should not be treated as scientifically interchangeable.
Why the word has two meanings
Search results and textbooks often mix labels. Readers typing “biomagnetism” may want biophysics (MEG, MCG, SQUID sensors) or complementary magnet-pair practice. This page keeps those tracks separate so you can follow the right branch.
Biomagnetism in science
